At Beauty Break with Clara, your trust matters more than anything. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit shopbbwc.com, how we use it, who we share it with (and don't share it with), and the rights you have over your information.

This policy is written to comply with the Philippines' Data Privacy Act of 2012 (RA 10173) and its Implementing Rules and Regulations.

1. Who We Are

Beauty Break with Clara is an independent online beauty shop operated by Clara Filamor as a sole proprietorship in the Philippines. We are the "Personal Information Controller" responsible for the data collected through shopbbwc.com.

For all privacy-related inquiries, you can reach us at clara@shopbbwc.com. Every message goes directly to Clara.

2. What Information We Collect

We collect different types of information depending on how you interact with our store.

Information you provide directly to us:

  • Account and order information: Your name, email address, shipping address, billing address, phone number, and the contents of your order.
  • Payment information: Payment details are collected and processed by our payment provider (PayMongo) on a secure, PCI-compliant platform. We do not see or store your full credit card number, debit card number, or bank account details. We only see a record that payment was successfully completed.
  • Communications: When you contact us via email, reply to our automated emails, sign up for our newsletter, or join our Facebook community group, we collect the contents of those messages.
  • Reviews and feedback: When you leave a product review, your first name and review text become publicly visible on our site.

Information collected automatically when you visit shopbbwc.com:

  • Device and browsing information: Your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring website, and the pages you view on shopbbwc.com.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: Small text files stored on your device that help our website function properly, remember your preferences, and analyze how visitors use the site. See Section 6 below for more on cookies.
  • Marketing analytics: If you arrive at shopbbwc.com from one of our advertisements (e.g., a Meta Ads campaign), we may receive information from the ad platform about which ad you clicked and what actions you took on our site afterward. This is used to measure ad performance, not to identify you personally.

Information we do NOT collect:

  • We do not collect government-issued ID numbers (no SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG, TIN, or other national IDs).
  • We do not collect your date of birth unless you voluntarily provide it for a birthday discount automation.
  • We do not collect biometric data, location data (beyond what your IP suggests), or any other "sensitive personal information" as defined under RA 10173.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for specific, legitimate purposes:

To fulfill your orders: Processing payments, packing and shipping products to your address, and providing tracking updates via email.

To communicate with you: Sending order confirmations, shipping updates, delivery confirmations, and responding to any messages you send us. If you've opted in to marketing communications, we may also send promotional emails about new arrivals, restocks, and exclusive offers.

To improve shopbbwc.com: Understanding how visitors use our site helps us improve the shopping experience. We use analytics tools (see Section 4) to see aggregate patterns, not to track individual customers.

To prevent fraud and protect the business: Detecting suspicious activity, preventing fraudulent transactions, and complying with applicable laws.

For marketing (only with your consent): If you've opted in, we use your information to send relevant promotional emails, retarget you with ads on platforms like Meta (Facebook and Instagram), and personalize content. You can opt out at any time (see Section 7).

We do NOT use your information to:

  • Sell your data to anyone, ever.
  • Send you unsolicited marketing if you haven't opted in.
  • Make automated decisions that legally or significantly affect you.

4. Who We Share Your Information With

We share information only with the service providers who help us run shopbbwc.com. Specifically:

Shopify (our ecommerce platform): Stores and processes your order and account information. Shopify is bound by its own privacy policy and applicable data protection laws.

PayMongo (our payment processor): Processes your payment information securely. PayMongo is a Philippine-licensed payment service provider.

Courier partners (e.g., Lalamove, Grab Express, J&T Express, Ninja Van): Receive your name, shipping address, and phone number to deliver your order. Couriers may also receive special delivery instructions if you provide them.

Email service providers (Shopify Email and/or Omnisend): Send order-related and marketing emails on our behalf. They have access to your email address and order history but are contractually bound to use it only for sending emails on our behalf.

Meta (Facebook and Instagram): If you visit shopbbwc.com after clicking an ad, or if you've opted into retargeting, Meta receives anonymized data about your visit to measure ad performance and show you relevant ads. We never share your name, email, or order details with Meta directly.

Analytics providers (e.g., Google Analytics): Receive anonymized data about site traffic and behavior. They do not receive your name, email, or order details.

Legal authorities: If required by Philippine law, a valid subpoena, or to protect the rights and safety of Beauty Break with Clara or its customers, we may disclose information to government authorities.

We do NOT share or sell your information to:

  • Third-party marketing companies for their own promotional purposes
  • Data brokers or list aggregators
  • Any party not directly involved in fulfilling your order or running shopbbwc.com

5. How We Protect Your Information

We take reasonable security measures to protect your personal information:

  • All data on shopbbwc.com is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/SSL)
  • Payment processing is handled entirely by PayMongo's PCI-compliant infrastructure — we never store payment card numbers
  • Access to customer data is limited to Clara and to service providers contractually bound to confidentiality
  • We use industry-standard authentication on all administrative accounts

While we take security seriously, no method of online transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we will notify affected customers within 72 hours of becoming aware of any data breach involving sensitive personal information, as required under RA 10173.

6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Like most websites, shopbbwc.com uses cookies to function properly and improve your experience.

Essential cookies: Required for the site to work (e.g., remembering items in your cart, keeping you logged in). These cannot be disabled.

Analytics cookies: Help us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it (e.g., Google Analytics, Shopify Analytics).

Marketing cookies: Help us show relevant ads to you on other platforms (e.g., Meta Pixel for Facebook and Instagram retargeting). These are only active if you've consented to marketing cookies via the cookie banner.

7. Your Rights Under the Data Privacy Act

Under the Philippines' Data Privacy Act of 2012, you have the following rights regarding your personal information:

Right to be informed: You have the right to know what information we collect about you and how we use it. This Privacy Policy provides that information.

Right to access: You can request a copy of the personal information we hold about you. We'll respond within 15 business days.

Right to correct: If any information we have about you is inaccurate or outdated, you can request that we correct it.

Right to delete (right to erasure): You can request that we delete your personal information, subject to legal obligations we may have to retain certain records (e.g., transaction records for BIR tax purposes, which we are required to keep for 10 years).

Right to object: You can object to the processing of your information for marketing purposes at any time. To opt out of marketing emails, click "Unsubscribe" at the bottom of any marketing email. To opt out of retargeting ads, adjust your ad preferences on Meta or other platforms.

Right to data portability: You can request that we provide your personal information in a structured, commonly-used format that you can transfer to another service.

Right to file a complaint: If you believe your privacy rights have been violated, you can file a complaint with the National Privacy Commission (NPC) of the Philippines at https://privacy.gov.ph.

8. How Long We Keep Your Information

We retain personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy:

  • Order and customer account data: Retained for 10 years after your last order, as required by Philippine tax and accounting regulations.
  • Email subscription data: Retained until you unsubscribe, after which your email is removed from active marketing lists within 30 days.
  • Cookie data: Most cookies expire automatically within 30 days to 2 years, depending on their type.
  • Communication records (emails, messages): Retained for up to 3 years to provide context for any follow-up support.

When data is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymize it.

9. Children's Privacy

Beauty Break with Clara is intended for customers aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18. If we become aware that we have collected information from a minor, we will delete it promptly.

10. International Data Transfers

Some of our service providers (such as Shopify and Meta) are based outside the Philippines and may process your data in other countries. When this happens, we ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place, including:

  • Contractual data protection clauses with our service providers
  • Reliance on providers that comply with international data protection standards (such as GDPR, where applicable)

By using shopbbwc.com, you consent to these international data transfers.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as our business or applicable laws change. The latest version will always be posted on this page with the updated date at the top.

For material changes (such as collecting new types of data or sharing data with new parties), we'll notify subscribers via email at least 30 days before the change takes effect.

Continued use of shopbbwc.com after a policy update means you accept the updated terms.
